Cannes XIII: The E1120, Motorola goes 3 megapixel

Motorola E1120

Moto goes straight to the big leagues with the E1120, their first three megapixel cameraphone (and one with an auto-focus lens,no less). This one’s also a quad-band cellphone that’s compatible with both WCDMA and GSM networks and sports a 320x240 pixel LCD screen, Bluetooth, barcode scanning software, a media player that’s compatible with Windows Media, and a TransFlash memory card slot. Unfortunately, also, like the E1060, the E1120 isn’t due out until sometime around the end of the year.

Cannes XII: Motorola's A1010

Motorola A1010

Let's come straight to the facts:
It’s a quad-band 3G cellphone that runs on Symbian 7.0/UIQ 2.1, is compatible with both WCDMA and GSM networks, and sports Bluetooth, a VGA quality digital camera for on the front for making video calls, a two megapixel digital camera around back for snapping still shots , a 208x320 pixel LCD screen, and a TransFlash memory card slot. Like the other new 3G handsets Moto announced today, this one won’t be out until Q4.

Cannes XI: Motorola E1060

Motorola E1060

Ok, here we go:
It’s a quad-band 3G cellphone that’s compatible with both WCDMA and GSM networks, and features a 2-inch, 240x320, 262,000 color LCD screen, a VGA camera for making video phone calls, a 1.3 megapixel camera for taking still pics, a TransFlash memory card slot, and multimedia software for playing back and streaming MPEG4, WMV, WMA, MP3, AAC+, and Real audio and video files. Oddly enough, despite a Reuters story from earlier today, there’s no mention of whether the phone has iTunes installed on it (though is that a scroll wheel we see?). Whether it has iTunes on it or not, the E1060 isn’t due out until Q4.

Cannes X: Panasonic SA7 and SA6 sport sporty designs

Panasonic SA7 and SA6

The next steps in Panasonic’s attempted domination of 3GSM are the SA7 and SA6. There is a pattern in this team of phones, as the SA7 features the same 2 megapixel camera, 2.5 inch display, and longer battery life as the MX7. The SA6 therefore carries the 1.3 megapixel camera and 2.2 inch display as the MX6. This pair seems to only set itself apart with a unique design intended for an active lifestyle.

Cannes IX: Samsung Series 60 smartphone

Samsung D720

First of all, this clean slider tips the scales at 110 grams and will be powered by the Symbian Series 60 operating system. Triband and GPRS Class 10, MP3/AAC/AAC+ music playback, a 1 megapixel camera and a 176 x 208 pixel display at 262k will make this one of the sweetest Samsung’s yet.

Cannes VIII: LG SV360, graphical horsepower

LG SV360

The new SV360 by
LG boasts an accelerator chip capable of displaying 1 million polygons per second, around 5 times faster than anything
else out there (and with what appears to be Gran Turismo 1). Not only that, but motion sensors built into the
handset will allow users to control their games simply by moving their handset in physical space. The gaming
experience is displayed on a 2.2 inch LCD built into a mini laptop design. Definitely better than the Nokia N-Gage.

Cannes VII: Nokia shows three 6-series

Nokia 3GSM 2005

First off is the smallest Series 60 smartphone yet, the 6682. This one features a 1.3
megapixel camera, LED flash, and a 262k color display. The tiny handset also includes Push to Talk, an MMC slot,
and EDGE/GPRS . The 6682 is expected for the second quarter.

Next up is the 6680, which builds upon the 8862 by adding WCDMA and swapping Push to Talk for a secondary VGA camera
to support video calls. The active slide cover for the primary camera will automatically switch between cameras
during video calls. The 6680 should drop next month.

Finally Nokia has announced the 6101, a clamshell with Xpress audio messaging, color primary and sub displays, a VGA
camera, and Push to Talk. This triband handset will come in EU and US in the second quarter.

Cannes VI: Panasonic MX series, more battery life, same displays!(24bit)

Panasonic MX7 and MX6

It looks like they couldn't stop announcing new handsets.
Panasonic’s new phones are the MX6 and MX7. These two are designed around endurance, as they feature almost twice the battery life of the VS series phones. The same 1.3 and 2 megapixel cameras and 2.2 and 2.5 displays exist in these two clamshells, and their industrial design is almost identical.

Cannes V: Panasonic brings 24 bit displays in the VS7 and the VS3

Panasonic VS3 and VS7

Panasonic brings 9 new handsets to the table. The first of
these are the VS7 and the VS3. Both are clamshell phones with serious photographic aspirations. The VS7
includes a 2 megapixel camera, 2.5 inch display producing 16 million colors, and a color sub display. The VS3
features a 2.2 inch display (again 24 bit color), 1.3 megapixel camera, but lacks the sub display of its big
brother. Both handsets feature interchangeable covers and push button auto open.

Cannes IV: Sendo X2

Sendo X2

The new X2 Music
Phone features stereo sound, MP3/AAC/AAC+ format support, plus Bluetooth and USB to move your music. It will also
feature a 1.3 megapixel camera with support for 1GB miniSD memory for storing your music, photos, and video.
Finally all of this content will be brought to you by a rather large 2.2 inch 65k display.
The whole thing weighs only 95 grams! The X2 will include Triband GSM/GPRS support and should be
available in Europe in the third quarter.

Cannes III: Sony Ericsson Z800i, finally freed from Vodafone

Sony Ericsson Z800i

The SonyEricsson Z800i is basically the "Vodafone V800 which was produced by SonyEricsson.
However the Z800i will be available in the second quarter, and
it brings quite a bit to the party. Bluetooth, Infrared, or USB will give users synchronization capability with
their PC. A 1.3 megapixel camera will rotate along the hinge of the handset, and the photos will be stored on
Memory Stick PRO Duo cards, with support for up to 1GB. The music player inside the Z800i will support
MP3/AAC/M4A formats and playback with stereo sound and Sony’s MegaBass technology. WOW! .

Cannes II: Sony Ericsson K600i, new 3G handset

Sony Ericsson K600i

Sony Ericsson has made three announcements this morning at 3GSM, the
first of which is the K600i. The K600i has a puristic design. UMTS/GPRS, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a 1.8 inch display, and USB round out the expected features, while FM
radio and full track music downloads fit in with Sony Ericsson’s 2005 strategy, (which is basically to push music capabilities) announced earlier this week. The K600i should prove to become the 3G equivalent of
the T68 of years gone by.

Cannes I:Motorola SLVR V8, the candybar RAZR

Motorola SLVR V8

So here we start with the 3GSM coverage. We aren't live in Cannes but we'll show you the best bits and pieces! ;)
Mototrola was one of the first companies to show some new stuff. they started with their newest member of the "RAZR family".
The SLVR includes EDGE,
Bluetooth, Mini USB, and Push-to-Talk for connectivity, as well as a VGA camera in a 3.4 ounce package. Battery
estimates are 12-17 days of standby and 4-6 hours of talk, which is pretty wicked for a device with almost a 2-inch
display. Other fun bits are MPEG-4 video recording and playback, Push-to-Talk, speakerphone, and something called
Motorola’s Dynamic Idle, which will display your, “favorite sports, entertainment, and weather.”
