More information about the new iPods and the delivery delays of the iPod shuffle

The new iPod mini

As reported, Apple today unveiled the second generation iPod mini lineup with a new 4GB model priced at $200 and a new 6GB model with 50 percent more storage priced at $250.
Both iPod mini models feature increased battery life of up to 18 hours, USB charging and an ultra-portable, lightweight design available in four colors (pink, blue, silver, and green).
"The iPod mini is now available at the magic price point of $199,"
said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO.
"At this breakthrough price point, and with more than twice the battery life, the new iPod mini should appeal to even more music lovers."
The 4GB and 6GB models of iPod mini are available worldwide immediately and include earbud headphones, a belt clip case, and a USB 2.0 cable.

An optional USB power adapter is available for $30 which easily charges iPod mini when traveling. Other accessories include the iPod Dock for $40 for desktop syncing and charging, in-ear headphones for $40, an arm band for $30, a lanyard for $20 and FireWire cable for $20.

The new iPod photo

Apple also updated its iPod photo lineup by introducing a new slim 30GB model, holding up to 7,500 songs, for just $350 and a new 60GB model, holding up to 15,000 songs, for $450. Apple also introduced the new iPod Camera Connector, due in late-March for $30. The optional accessory enables customers to connect their digital camera to iPod photo and import their photos into the iPod.
"By simply connecting the iPod Camera Connector and a digital camera, customers can easily transfer digital images to their iPod photo."
The iPod photo includes earbud headphones, a USB 2.0 cable, and a USB power adapter.

iPod shuffle delay

We can't say a lot about the delivery problems Apple has to deal with at the moment.
The facts are: There is a 2-3 delivery time on the 1GB version and a 1-2 week delivery time on the 512MB model. This is true for the USA, the rest of the world has to wait even longer...

Here we go with the newest iPods from Apple.
After a lot of speculations in the last days: we are a little bit disappointed. Why? Well, if all the rumors were actually true we would now have all the iPods with color screens and at least one bluetooth enabled iPod. Anyways, here are the facts:

  • A new 6GB iPod mini (no color screen!)
  • The 4GB iPod mini gets a price cut to $199
  • The 20GB iPod stays at $299
  • The iPod photo now comes in two sizes: a 30GB version which goes for $349 and a 60GB version which sells for $449
